Sleepy

Mom is sleeping a lot more now. Maybe awake but still groggy for an hour or two a day. She says she's too tired for most things including visitors. Talking on the phone also takes away a lot of energy.  You can always call us and she if she's up, but please don't take offense if she's too tired. We'll let you know if that changes at all. Thank you for all the prayers, support and love.

We are also looking for more happy photos, stories etc.  Feel free to email them to me, NikkiL80@aol.com or mom, I try to check her email once a day.

Update

Mom was awake enough two nights ago to watch an hour or two of the Giants game.

Another beautiful sky for mom to look at out the bay windows.

Some church friends came over last night with some Holy Oil, a reading from the bible, singing, stories/memories, jokes and a bushmills, bailies and rootbeer toast.
After everyone left, I got out some bubbles her friend Janis gave her.  Above is a picture of mom blowing bubbles as the rest of us hung out in the living room.

Hospice bed

Mom has a hospice bed now.  She request it go in the living room facing the bay windows.  Here she is wearing sunglasses because it is rather bright!

The pain medication seems to be working well still.  She is still very sleepy and groggy.  It is getting harder for her to walk, so a wheel chair has come in handy.

We love all the flowers, cards, prayers, love etc.  Thank you so much.

Update

Its been a rough couple of days.  Mom started a new drug that is taking care of the pain, but is making her very sleepy and groggy.  It is a 5 day trial to see how she handles the drug.  Mom wasn't able to keep any of her food down Sunday or Monday.  One nurse said she might not be able to eat anymore due to the tumor blocking the bowel another nurse said try toast.  She kept the toast down Monday night.  I stayed home from work today (tuesday), she ate today and seemed to keep it down fine.  She threw up twice tonight.  We will contact hospice in the morning to see what we can do.  So many more prayers for mom to stay comfortable and for us family to have the strength to get through this difficult time please.  Please send mom a card or an email with something loving/happy/funny.  We are doing what we can to keep upbeat and positive. Thank you!

thankful for prayers

Once again your prayers and good vibes have helped. Mom doesn't have a blocked bowel anymore! Dad and I took her to Dr. Chan's on Friday morning. The tumor has grown a little, so it is blocking part of her digestion. Dr. Chan has suggested a CT scan and then possibly a surgery for a Loop colostomy. We will start Hospice to help us through this process. Thank you again for the prayers and positive thoughts, we appreciate them.

artists sharing project

Mom and Dad's neighbor Keith Moreau and Sam Ellis Moreau have started a film called "Sharing Artists Sharing" at http://www.artistsharing.com/

Mom is included in the 30 plus artists who live in Brisbane that are filmed for this full length documentary. A trailer was shown at last weeks Brisbane's Art Sharing Evening. Check out the trailer and keep an eye out for mom.

Dr. Chan appointment

Mom, dad and I went to mom's Doctor's appointment today. Doctor Chan said mom looked a lot better. He was very happy she's been eating soft foods and has be digesting them with much complication. He said the tumor isn't blocking anything. Mom has another appointment in 2 months to see how she is doing. Such great news.

Feb 5th 2012

Mom and Dad saw Dr. Chan Friday morning (feb 3rd) and decided to stop chemo treatment due to digestive problems and no energy. Upon exam the pelvic tumor is still growing. Mom is focused on healing and to be able to eat soft foods and be strong enough to go visit family in Indiana. Mom is currently on a clear liquid diet. Continued prayers and loving support are greatly appreciated.
